"Legacy of Honor pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of SSG Justin R. Whiting, U.S. Army, by supporting programs and initiatives that support veterans and their families, that promotes and deepens patriotism, including local and regional school-based programs, and by supporting awards to local and regional high school seniors who enlist in a branch of the United States Armed Forces."

Purpose:The purpose of the Justin's Patriotic Project is to encourage students to be the best that they can be, to stay in school, graduate, and then go on to higher education or the Armed Forces.

Justin's Patriotic Project is a poster/ essay contest for grades 3 and 4 and an essay contest for students in grades 5 through 10. The project encourages children of all ages to take pride in themselves, their school, and the land in which they live. It also encourages them to become aware of the importance of our forefather's service to this country and what they can do to serve their country while making the entire world a better place to live. This includes being a good student, learning a trade, serving in the military, or growing up to be a responsible citizen in their hometown.

Regardless of what your children do, continuously encourage them to learn and be an asset to our society.

Submissions: Students can choose to write an essay detailing their thoughts on the importance of education, citizenship, and patriotism. The essay will help children think about what it means to be a citizen of the United States of America, what they can do to help their neighbor, their community, and their Country. It will also help students and their parents start thinking about going to college, trade school, or into military service at an early age.

Awards:The awards start at $50.00 for 3rd grade and increase by $50.00 each year through grade 10.
